Floppy MK9?

Just got done shooting and cleaning my new MK9. I notice there is a bit of play in the slide, from side to side. If I grab the slide at the muzzle end (gun uloaded of course) I can move the slide left to right, just a bit. It seems to shoot just fine. Never noticed this on any of my other semi-autos. Of course, the gun is brand new so I'm looking for flaws :), just like a new car.

Take a look at any of your other autos, some you will notice it more, some less.
Its just the fact that the slide and frame are two sepperate pieces fitted together with rails and groves. :D

Every pistol has some play in it. Some looseness keeps just a little grit from jamming the whole thing up.
I seem to recall some pistolsmith saying that it is a greatly overrated part of accuracy - the slide to frame fit. Not that it is not important, but people over rate the importance of it. It is just something that everybody can check, so we all do.
If your pistol is accurate, I would not worry about it.

I've got a 1911 that has what sounds like a death rattle when you shake it. Shoots ok though. I would rather have a little slop in there rather that one that was to tight.

Want rattle? Try a Hi Power.

I wouldn't be concerned in the least bit. You will probably see the slide play decrease noticeably once you insert a loaded magazine into the weapon. Glocks also have a loose slide to frame fit as well as many other brands of pistols. What matters is that you have a good solid barrel lockup. I have a FM Hi Power that rattles a lot but it is also one of the most accurate handguns I have ever owned. I've also owned handguns that had a loose barrel lockup that were so inaccurate that I couldn't hit a rats buttocks if I used his hindquarters for a rest!
