Flitz

I noticed may posts that referenced Flitz as a polish to remove rust, scratches, etc. I ordered a tube and tried it on an old Model 24 Winchester double barrel that had a bit of rust and years of grime. I was amazed how easily and how well the gun cleaned up. It removed traces of rust but did not seem to harm the original bluing. So I tried it on an even older Model 1892 Winchester rifle and was equally impressed with the results. A great product for cleaning guns that have rust, scratches, etc.

Flitz is great stuff.Sometimes I use it with a toothbrush on more corroded metal parts.

Use 0000 steel wool and some oil to remove light rust. Or a fine brass wire wheel in a bench grinder. Eye protection is required. Flitz is a metal polish.

Agree, Flitz is a metal polish, but it does a good job on light rust. The directions included with Flitz recommend using it with 0000 steel wool if necessary. I find it works fine just using it with a rag and a bit of rubbing.
