flat vs arched grip backstrap

Why did S&W use a flat grip backstrap on the 4006 40cal when they used an arched grip backstrap on the 5906 9mm? Does it make any differance? Thank you.

I don't really know, but I suspect it has to do with the overall dimensions of the grip, and how the 'average' buyer would hold the gun to a natural point of aim. Just a guess.

not sure about the 9/.40 models but on the 10/.45 frames, the grips are easily swapped out from straight to curved

Don't know much about S&W Automatics!

But they seem to make great revolvers!:D

And boy, aren't their guns SAFE!;)

I'll stick to a flat backstrap 1911! By the way, you should use the backstrap that feels best in your hands. Either one is fine if it's fine for you!
