I keep coming back to the dead simple Streamlight mount that goes under the magazine cap - http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=754094 . You can put on whatever light you like, either a rail-ready light or a flashlight in a 1" scope ring. Best to use an LED light IMHO, to avoid filament breakage in a standard bulb, and take it off for daytime practice. Batteries tend to pound the inside of a light pretty hard under 12 ga. recoil...
gonna side with Lee here. That Streamlight mount, a LAserlyte tril-rail or a railed or semi-railed forend. I can't stand the ergonomics of the Surefire. Why can't they have a grooved forend instead of a bulky, plastic club?
Yup, that surefire sure is expensive, can't afford that one. I don't think I want to add a rail at this moment. I think I'll keep it simple and just get a clamp like this one.
The SWAT/spec ops/home protection market has many custom features & add ons.
I'd suggest the respected Sure-Fire foregrip but a few newer white lights/laser aimers are out there for 1913 or Picatinny rails.
Crimson Trace has a cool new green laser with a bright light. I'm not aware if this add-on/foregrip has a strobe feature(a useful home protection tool) but it could be used with rifles/shotguns.

I have this Laserlyte mount on my Mossberg 500, use the TLR-3 light with it. Works like a charm. Mounts on the magazine tube using two clamp screws, has 3 rails for mounting lights and lasers.
I did the Surefire forearm and light when I bought my 870 Express 12 ga. They installed it free and the receiver 5 round saddle. It's useful and I like the light but, it's not as powerful as my hand held Surefire E2E? It's good enough to identify a BG in the house and make swiss cheese of him though!
