Flash Suppressors / hiders on shotguns

I am about to install a flash hider on a mossberg 500 18.5 inch barrel and was curious why you dont see more folks or the military doing the same. I admit ranges on shotguns usally mean fights over after a round or two but i like the idea of retaing some of my night vision too be able too look around a bit. Anyone hae expirence with shooting a flash hider equpipped shotgun?
 
No experience, but it does seem to be a item that should be recomended(?) on a HD or military shotgun.

I've often thought about getting one for the 590. Shooting slugs makes a big flame... then again, doesn't that make it fun... and much more intimidating? :cool: :p
