Fla Judge Upholds Secretary of State

The Florida circuit court judge has just upheld the Secretary of State's discretion in not accepting recount votes submitted after last Tuesday.

Unless Gore's campaign can get his ruling reversed TODAY in the Fla Supreme Court, the Secretary of State can certify the winner Saturday.

If Gore doesn't get 301 more votes from absentee ballots than Bush, he'll be sending out resumes.

This is good news.
Holding to the rule of law... No one stepping on any actual toes.

Taken all together - all these legal actions are pretty much doing NOTHING. The first ruling did nothing and this one did nothing either.
When I say NOTHING... I mean its had NO actual effect on any potential outcome.
Its been an interesting way to take some extra time.
Either way - I dont think that anyone can say that a persons vote doesnt matter.
I think this has been a big boost for democracy... Especially in these western states... In '04 we will see a tital wave of voter turn out.
I think the popular vote will be much more accurate from now on.

Back to the judge's ruling.
One thing this has done - it has slapped the rule of law upside Warren Christopher's head showing that LAW isnt just something the Liberals can manipulate to there satisfaction.

Thanks, Gary. This, to me, is excellent news. My preferred scenario: the FL secretary of state receives the count of absentee votes, adds them to the existing count, certifies the final tally, and announces the winner, presumably Bush, tomorrow. Done deal.

Gore will likely challenge the result. But IMHO it'd be harder for him to get a result overturned after it's been officially announced, than it's been for him to weasel votes prior to the official announcement.

Of course, I'm assuming that the FL secretary of state sticks to her guns, and that the votes are there for Bush.

My 1 1/2 cent.

I agree, you guys. It looks good and it seems the Bush team knows what it is doing.
Despite the hyperbole, its do or die now for Gore.
Lets hope none of our own hotheads do anything stupid before this weekend is over.

Job application for ALGORE

I'm sure he wishes to continue his government service. I think there is a job available here for a garbage man (afterall he invented recycling)
