FL CCW for CA resident

Does anyone know if it is possible for a CA resident to get a CCW permit in FL?

If yes, can I start the process from CA, or do I have to do all the paper work in FL?

I travel to FL a couple times a year, and feel disadvantaged walking next to my buddy who carries his Glock everywhere.

I have a book called Florida Firearm Laws (or something like that) at home. I'll check to see if there are any residency restrictions and post what I find tonight.

Speaking of out of state permits, a while ago I heard that Oregon would issue CW to residents of bordering states. Anybody have data onn this?
 
WRT Oregon, according to a relative of mine who is a deputy there, forget it. Unless you are a cop or can provide a real, continuing buisness need to carry, then don't bother.

I will dig around on this myself, as I spend quite a lot of time in Oregon, but let me know what you find out.
