Fix-her-up guns?

Where is a good place to find fix-her-up guns? Are we talking gun shops, the internet, gunsmiths...I wouldn't mind picking up a few beaters to see if I can get them working. I don't want anything too complex. I have been tinkering with my own guns and would like to troubleshoot some different ones.
 
Gun shows, pawn shops, want ads, garage sales (iffy, but worth it sometimes). Gun shops might work, but gunsmiths know how to fix guns, and shops without a smith don't generally want basket cases.

My fav is pawn shops. If you get in good with the buyer or owner, you might be able to get first pick of guns coming in.
 
Yeah, I figured gunsmiths might occassionally cross a weapon that is given to them to fix and maybe they wouldn't want to fool with it. Just a thought.
 
Pawn shops

I cruise the local pawn shops about once a month. If you deal with them enough, you can usually get a pretty good deal now and then.
 
+1 for pawn shops or stores without smiths.

Avoid a smiths shop because if he doesn't want to fix it and resell it is probabbly too expensive to fix or something is seriously wrong with it.
 
I have good luck here in Tucson AZ at yard/garage sales. For private sales here it's cash and carry with no paperwork required. "Cheap" ones are ususally damaged but that's why they're cheap! I paid $15 for my last one and it only needed a few springs and a refinish. Hmmm..I think I'm going yard sailing this weekend! Have fun and keep yer powder dry, Mac.

I've picked up a few beaters at the local pawn shop in attempts to fix and flip. But after I spend a week stripping, refinishing, and getting everything set up right, I generally fall in love and can't sell them.

Aint that the truth. I have a closet full of those beaters that I bought with the intent of fixing them up and turning a profit on. My latest pick up is an 870 that I picked up the other day for less than $150. I have big plans on making a home defense gun out of it and turning it over, how much you bet it never leaves as well.
 
Gun shops with good gunsmiths is where I find lots of
gun goodies. Not real simple repairs, but doable.

I find rifles, shotguns, pistols, muzzle loaders, scopes,
parts, you name it.

www.jgsales.com sells "gunsmith specials" which are basically grab bags of broken guns.

there's a nice lookin set of handguns for only $200... I imagine I could fix at least a couple of 'em and maybe recoup the cost.... although as was stated earlier they'll probably end up just stayin with me.
