Fitting a Bar-sto barrel (Update)

I purchased a match barrel for my G23 and it appears that it will require some fitting. I would prefer to accomplish this myself. If i duplicated all the dimensions from the original barrel, will this accomplish the purpose? Has anyone done this? Any advice?
OK. It took very little to fit the barrel hood to the slide for a nice tight lock-up. I duplicated original dimensions on bottom of lug area plus .015. I then removed a small amount at a time until i was able to cycle the slide smoothly. Then i polished the entire barrel. Dont know how a gunsmith would do it, but i had it out last night and it shot and functioned perfectly. Just thought i would pass it on for what its worth.

It is best to fit to your slide, not try to match the original barrel dimensions in the hood area that can result in sloppy lockup. You made a wise choice to get a barrel with fully supported chamber.

If you duplicate the stock barrel dimensions then you won't get the benefit of ordering a "hand-fitting required barrel". The extra metal is there so you can get a precise fit to the slide for tighter (and more accurate) lockup.
