First Wheel gun in a while, and it's a hog leg.

I was in the hunt for a big bore wheel gun and thought I decided on a Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt but had this Hog Leg fall in my hands at a bargain. Yeah it's a Raging Bull and a Taurus but I think they Got this one right enough, at least for me. SA is nice and Lock up is tight. Accurate as me too. Don't know if this had been a Different Taurus that I would have thought it such a bargain but the Raging Bull (With it's odd looks) seems to be a winner if you want a big bore Hog Leg. The DA leaves a little to be desired but I shoot it fine. SA is smooth as I could ask for (not being a S&W). I am impressed enough with price (got a deal),accuracy, fit, and finish to put it on my keeper shelf next to my 10mm.

NICE! What caliber?

I've heard the Raging Bulls are some of the best revolvers Taurus makes, they seem to have less problems than the other models.

Congrats on your purchase. I've had a Raging Bull in 44 mag for years. One of my most accurate revolvers. The combination of the weight ,porting and grip make it the softest shooting 44 I've ever fired. The odd looks grow on you after a while.:D

That's not a hogleg.
True that Traditional Hog Leg was used to describe a pistol that was shaped like a hogs leg or sheep's leg which happen to now be the old SA model revolvers. The name was given for it's size and shape and some associate the term that way. Also many associate the term with any big revolver with a long barrel. I will let them hash out tradition and call it a Big Revolver just to avoid making quicksand.

Well it's a strong choice. That double lock up can handle pretty much any .44 magnum load.
Thanks and t can be a pain to get use to as well and I failed to mention it. I have short fingers and am use to using them to lift the cylinder out. Doesn't allow me to do it so easily and makes me use that thumb muscle too much...lol

The odd looks grow on you after a while.
I actually like it. I don't mind different either. That long DA reach for these short fingers is my biggest challenge, yet I shoot it as well as I have any other in DA.

What it did the most was make me want another Wheel Gun in .357, 4-6" barrel (haven't decided). Something ill shoot mostly .38's in. Really have a desire for a S&W model 19.

Put me in the old school. Hogleg (aka Hawgleg) just doesn't apply.

Horse pistol, or cannon might apply, but not Hogleg. Hoglegs are Single Actions, notably longish barrel SAAs or similar looking guns. Not a DA revolver.
