First wheel gun help

Ok so I have to semi autos and want a wheel gun. My ideal one would be the Ruger GP 100 in a 4'' barrel. But they are kinda $$$. Is there a good quality wheel gun that is just as good just not as $$$? I definitly want something in 4'' and 357 so I can go to the range with the 38 loads. I am open to any ideas.

Taurus is typically considered a good value (i.e., compromise between cost and quality) and should run less than a Ruger. Less still would be Rossi or Llama, but quality is hit and miss.

If you don't have to have a double-action revo, you could get a single-action Ruger Blackhawk for less than a GP100, and it will last forever.

A good used GP100 is a solid bet...(I have one)

I have a police trade-in GP100 I got for $250. (3" SS)

Works like a charm. The factory grips are a joke, so I put some Buttler Creek cheapies on it and it feels ALOT better.

A nice used S&W or a new M65ss4 should run you about $300. (or less)

best of luck.
[I own a S&W, ruger, and couple of Taurus revolvers]

I have been looking for a used one now for the last few months but have found none. I am hoping a gun show is coming up soon because I really want a GP 100 and I have also been checking the for sale section and found nothing either. Anyone want to hook me up? :)

A lightly used Ruger would fit the bill nicely.
So would a used S&W Model 13 (blue) or 65 (Stainless) with fixed sights.
If you elect to try a Taurus, make sure it is a model that has the lifetime warranty.

One can sometimes find a used police or "corrections" Model 13 for about $250. Some of these may look well worn (holster wear) but are functionally good shooters.

Tip: When buying a wheelgun, look at the top strap just above the rear of the barrel's forcing cone. It may be dirty, but holding the gun in profile you should not see much erosion of the top strap. If you do, it shows the gun has been fired with a lot of magnum powered loads. Be sure to check the gun's timing, lock up and fore/aft cylinder movement (almost none is right).
