First S&W

After over a year of saving my pennies while finishing college, hours or reading posts on TFL, hand surgery and a few posts by myself to figure out what i wanted I finally own a S&W revolver :D.

I was at a local shop looking at a new 617 6 inch barrel when I spotted a model 18 4" barrel and knew instantly was taking it home. About 15 minutes after I got it home I rummaged through the recycling bin for some cans and had a blast:).

It looks like one of the new ones. Nice. My Model 17 was made in 1958.

Yes it is one of the new ones, 18-7. I was thinking about looking for an older one but I suppose I will just have to have fun growing old with this one :D.

It sure feels like a masterpiece. After only a day of owning this I am already thinking my next purchase must be a centerfire companion for it haha. First thing I noticed shooting the model 18 was how great the sights are.

I don't work tomorrow so I think I am going to go buy some paper targets and see what I can do.

Hello Kimbertron,,,

That would be your second wise move. ;)
The first being when you bought your Model 18.

Seriously though,,,
The .38 version is the S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece.

So gentle on the hands,,,
So very devastating to a bad guy,,,
So very satisfying to own and to shoot.

Happy shooting Kimbertron,,,

sweet..
nice choice..the hks k 22 speedloaders work well:)

mine has the ramp front sight, it looks like yours has the partridge..

the 17 of mine has the partridge..

and yes, the mate to it in 38 is just as sweet to shoot, nearly same weight and feel as well..truly companion guns..

enjoy..

Did some target shooting with it today. This gun is instantly becoming a favorite and I am sure will be coming out every weekend.

First target is 17 yards of the bench.

Second is 17 yards off hand single action.

Third is about 12 yards double action shooting fast as I can properly shoot.

CORRECTION: I measured where my targets were and they were actually 17 yards not 20. Thought I put them in the same spot as last year oops lol.
