First Rifle Results

For anyone interested, I have taken some pictures of my new .22 (Marlin 795)and results of my first time shooting it. Started with 75 feet (farthest available on the indoor range) - not great... Brought it back in to 25 feet to get my bearings - better. Out to 50 feet, then back out to 75 - much better. Included the first round (5 shots) at 75 and the last at the same distance (15 shots) to show the difference. Considering I haven't shot in more than 20 years, and that was just enough to get a merit badge for scouts, I think I did OK. Thanks again to all who gave me advice on my last thread.

Not too bad, for a first showing - now get a few different brands/types of ammo, to see which the rifle prefers (more accurate), maybe 1 or 2 more than the others, then stock up on it's fave.

.

You might want to put low-powered rimfire scope or red-dot sight on that puppy. They're cheap and will increase your accuracy and ease of shooting. I'd go with the red-dot for about $40.

Not too shabby for iron sights. Congrats on your new rifle. I do like the way they look.

If you will be hunting with a scope, I'd get a cheap fixed power for it and practice that way too.

And yes, try different ammo. My 22 lr rifles prefer the 325 rd Federal Auto Match Ammo from Wal-Mart.
