First post and a question for CA LEO's

First time poster. Great site with a lot of valuable information, opinions, user experience and insight.

A question if I may:

Can CA LEO's purchase firearms out of state (i.e., attend The Big Reno show, make a purchase and bring it home)? Also, are CA LEO's limited to what they can own (i.e., can a CA LEO own an AR15, with high-cap magazines, purchased out of state)? Just curious. Thanks in advance to all who answer.
 
If they are doing it as a private party, i.e. not as a department buyer, and do not have any sort of FFL, then the answer to both questions would be NO. To be legal they have to follow the laws just like us "regular" people.

Doesn't mean it hasn't been done though.
