I shot my first idpa match yesterday. It was a lot of fun learned a few things. I placed 30 out of 53 overall. Can't wait till next month to do it again.

OP, what division? what gun? Competition is where you'll learn to shoot quickly and accurately. It's not breath and squeeze with a pistol, it's grip it and rip it. Depending on where you are, 53 is a good turnout for IDPA.

Nice run for your first time out. Look at the #1 shooter at 76.14 and 16.5 points down still did better than # 2 80.24 and 7.5 points down. It's the blend of speed and hits. Best path forward now is for you to take shooting lessons from a IPDA Master. DVC

I don't really have funds for that right now. I figure the more matches i go to the better i'll get. I do have a place I can practice behind my house. The things I plan to to work on before next month are (follow up shots) I can always make the first one good but its a little difficult getting back on target, (shooting strong hand) (shooting weak hand) those are two things I had to do on one stage and I've never practiced those before, and (shooting while on the move) something I had also never tried before.

Good luck with your shooting. IDPA is a lot of fun. You may also want to look at USPSA matches. If you just like to stand and shoot give Steel Challenge Matches a look.

Nice! I love it, Im taking my S.O. test neext week. Been pushing all my buddies to come try and they love it too. Now Im looking for rifle leagues as well as USPSA. Have fun!

good for you

Hey, not bad at all, go get'em.

I nearly spoiled my IDPA future by being too competitive. Once I started shooting against myself, and not worry so much about everybody else, I actually started to do better.......and enjoy it more.

Procedurals.......Agh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My great downfall. I can shoot, I just can't think and shoot. I go through a match "clean", I'm really pleased.

Shot last night, indoors range, and did OK. Noisy as all get out, even with muffs and plugs. Factory .40 S&W, even factory 9mm, was near abusive. I need to guard what little hearing I have left!!!!!!!!!
