Grof, Actually there is no resemblance to a domestic hog in any of those. The black is the original color of the spanish hogs released/lost by explorers beginning with Ponce de Leon. Our wild hogs in Fla date back at least to his trips. The long snout and upright ears, versus drooped ears are the easy signals. Any color is possible these days from black to pink to red to fully spotted can be many generations feral. Granted, DNA can be traced to any number of 20 or more domestic breeds. These can be feral from farms as far back as 100 or more years.
If "wild", to you, means Russian or "eurasian", we do have some of that blood in the genes of many but for the most part, our area wasn't known for the large numbers of imported euro blood that is found from NC on up the eastern seaboard and along the smokies and Appalachian Mts...
