When I was a Boy Scout (no, this isn't another one of those discussions ), first aid was a very important skill. It was quite simple ... a wise and capable individual should have some basic medical training so they can keep another person alive until the professionals arrive to assist.
Today, it is more commonly confined to CPR for the average person, but the concept remains and is well accepted. No one is threatened by 'first aid' ... it is obviously a good idea.
Most of us on TFL understand that some means and capability for self defense is a very similar concept. One should be able to protect themselves and innocent others until the professionals arrive. The anti's deny such a need, while denouncing our 'epidemic of violence' - nonsensical.
What about educating more people about self defense by putting it into a simple, marketable phrase. 'First Defense' would see to work. As in, 'Don't you think knowledge of First Defense is a good skill?' 'Your wife and kids know First Defense, don't they?' 'We're offering First Defense courses this weekend.' And, so on.
I suspect this has been done before, but ... what do you think? I know the world won't change because of a little phrase, but slogans do have power ... or, so says the Pepsi Generation ...
Worth pursuing? Thanks.
