First day at the range!!!!

Just took my first gun a Charles Daly 1911 .45 to the range last week. I put 200 rounds of 230gr FMJ through it. Only had 4 FTF. I think the problem is the 8 round mags that came with the gun. They have no markings on them and they look cheap. I heard that the Chuck is suspossed to come with Mec-Gars mags? I'm getting some new mags. Then off the the range to see. A lot of people prasie the Chuck here and some bash it. Add me to the list of those who really like their Chucks'. So far mines excellent in looks and funtion. As others have said the older ones are not good but the newer ones are good(serial # CD####). As with all brands there are going to be good ones and bad ones. And the $335 I spent was well worth it.

Glad you got your money's worth! I was starting to worry there. You might want to check the lips on the mags you have. If the lips at the top are too tight or too loose, you might be able to bend 'em and make the mags reliable. That's not to discourage you from buying the better ones but you might be able to keep those as practice mags. Don't toss 'em until you try it.

Have fun and keep us posted.

If the mags don't have the MecGar factory symbol and "Made in Italy" on them, they aren't MecGar. MecGar makes excellent mags. They make Beretta factory mags.

The 4 Mec-Gar Para mags I've seen have NO markings on them at all.
They came in the original packets from two different stores.
Odd....
Work perfectly though ! :)
