Firing Modern Ammo in 1893 Mauser?

I have a Spanish Mauser Carbine, modelo 1893, made in 1894. It is in good fireable condition and was fired a few years ago. Is it safe and wise to fire Peters High Velocity 7 MM Mauser, 175 grain cartridges in this old rifle? What ammo WOULD be appropriate?

Thanks,

Drakejake. U.S. ammo is loaded down to accomodate old weak Mausers. Just stay away from the light magnum types from Hornady and Federal. If you plan to reload, stick to the starting loads only. Finger, hands and teeth can be darn hard to replace.
