Well? What are you boys and girls gonna be doing in the way of Fireworks this year?

I normally get a few bricks of Black Cats, Jumping Jacks,(which I put in a sling shot and light and let em explode or fly off into the high sky) Roman Candles and Small Festival Balls (consumer grade arial mortors) as my staples. As extras I pick up the flash bombs, smoke bombs and the almighty whistle chaser! :D I dont do the fountains very much but I do miss the kaliedoscope (sp?) Those were cheap and had a hell of a bang!

Have you been looking through the boxes in my garage again?

I figure that if I don't look like a cinder on the fifth then I didn't have a good fourth (usually comes from holding onto the bottle rockets just a little too long).

That said if we ever meet don't ask my wife about the fourth that her brother came over. She took his wife out shopping about noon with plans to get home about six. Obviously we declined to go along (I think that we were playing games on the computer). I can't remember how it started (the case of beer certainly played into it somewhere) but we managed to give up the computer and get into a bottle rocket war inside (with packs of firecrackers used as covering fire when moving). They came home, waded through the empty bottles, kicked there way through the paper shrapnel, and stumbled around in the smoke fog trying to find us to let us know just what they thought of our afternoon. Oh well, we had fun.

Sniff..no bottle rockets here in Oklahoma unless I smuggle them in. And Im not about to drive to New Mexico from OKC just for Bottle Rockets. Although I do miss em!

AHHH.... Back during the Great war of the Quarry I became a hero!!! Picture it, S.C., 1998. Our boys were held down by candles and rocket fire. The enemy was advancing and sure of victory. They always won, they had money. In a short flash of brillance I grabbed my boy James and said "come with me". Off we went to the CAR. I grabbed the mortars(gasp!!). James said " Not these! not the nukes.". Off we went to the high ground! The rest( along with a rain coat, gloves and the gall to hold and aim them with my hands )won the war and a rare steak from the rich boys.

You guys are all nutz!! :D

We are going over to Long Beach (WA) for our 4th of July celebration. Washington is a great state because most everything, pyrotechnic-wise, is still legal here.

We're headed to Long Beach because it usually has the highest concentration of crazies I've ever seen in my life.

Picture 4000 people, each of whom spent $200 getting "the big box" of fireworks -- roman candles, mortar rounds, firecracker strings wound into a platter the size of a small car tire ... anything you can imagine.

Then picture these people all jammed within about two miles of each other on the beach, along with their cars, girlfriends, kids, beers, campfires, hot dogs and s'mores.

I'm planning to bring ear protection. :)

And yeah, we bought "the big box" too.

Well no fireworks for me. Live in Cali where all fireworks are illegal in most cities. Good old Cali.

Since I have to work, :( on a 7 day schedule, I'll have to miss the fireworks. We have four (4) boxes shells to shoot off, from 3" thru 8". There is also a pig to do on a spit. Double :( :(

One 4th at lake Eufaula, my cousin and I were on the beach contemplating running thru our fireworks. Well this small boat comes putting up to the swimming area, stops,we watch, movement, then INCOMMING!
The navy never stood a chance. We had friends on our right and left flanks. Popbottle rockets are SO cool. :)

Fireworks are illegal here in NY. So naturally the only people who have them are the cops on my block. Three years ago they put a rocket through my front window while I wasn't home. They never admitted anything and weren't even man ( and woman) enough to say they were sorry and offer to fix the window.

NY is full of creeps, no wonder Hillary came here to run.

I have no problem with having fun but take responsibility for your actions and clean up after yourself. I know wednesday morning I will have to clean up my yard due to all of the debris from my so called neighbors.

Hey Mr. Bigglesworth, I thought I was the only one who shot fireworks into the sky with a slingshot. Learned that from a friend up in MI.
Were there's a will...

Fire restriction has been lifted in Alachua, the last two years have been "fireworks free zones" because of all the pyro's in Waldo and the lack of rain. Jesus you want something burned, just go to Waldo, FL. Haven of antique collectors, the nations WORST speedtrap, and #$%^& who just love to do a "controlled burn" in open pine flatwoods.

I have reserve parking and seating at the festivities on the National Mall, as physically close to the fireworks display as is legal and/or safe.

It's so close that when the fireworks goes off there is slightly less than a second's delay before the sound hits you. THAT'S close.

Chances are he knows how to use it.

My father used to get all of us on the roof of the house and watch the fireworks that a local shoppig center used to shoot. Then afterwards, the real fun began....

Dad was making business trips to Tennessee back then, and would come home with all sorts of goodies. We would launch cherry bombs with the slingshot. Dad would hold the cherry bomb in the ready-to-launch position and I would light the fuse with a punk stick. As soon as he heard the sizzle of the fuse, he would let 'er rip. Great fun!

Once in a while I'd make off with Dad's slingshot and a handfull of cherry bombs and go off into the woods with my buddies. It was on one of these excursions that I found that, well... My buddy and I were having a fireworks war, kinda like playing Army but we used firecrackers. I threw a cherry bomb in his direction, but I hit a tree branch and fell into the creek. I turned around and swore (I hate to waste a good firework) when WHAM! it went off. I hadn't known that cherry bombs were waterproof! My buddy and I were both splattered with water and mud and we were laughing like he**!

Thanks for getting me to reminisce!

Then there was the time....

After playing around with by Spud Gun one Fourth to the point of it cracking from the strain :( my brother-in-law tossed the can of starting fluid (ether) high into the air and I hit it with a 12ga loaded with BB size steel shot. The fireball/mushroom cloud was HUGE! We didn't have eyebrows for a couple of weeks afterwards! :D

Cougar said: "I hadn't known that cherry bombs were waterproof!" That was one of the first things I learned. We used to go fishing with them and the M80. Mostly for carp, but we did get a few trout with them. I live and grew up in CA. It is so sad to see that the kids now days can not get any decent fireworks.

I remember one time when My next door neighbor's older brother sent him a box of goodies... This was a rather large box, brought in by UPS on a dolly....... For the next few weeks we had a blast. One of our favorite things was to take a coffie can, drill a hole in the top, put an M80's fuse through the hole from the inside and tie it of on the top. We would then bury it in the ground to about 2" from the top. Light the fuse and run like H***. If the tops did not blow out (bout 1 out of 4) the can would take off like a rocket. We got a few of them that went so high you could hardly see the can.

Yes it's so sad that the do gooders here in CA have done away with so much of our freedom in the name of safety. There were so many people who were starting fires with these without taking responsibility, that they banned all the good stuff. I remember that besides fires they were also concerned about the occasional kid who got his hand blown off. I think it was one of the first times I had heard "Lets do it for the kids"
