I was riding around with a buddy discussing the next gun purchase and he says, "Let's do some outside shooting to clear your head". I happened to have my S&W model 36 and he had a Ruger Blackhawk. I fired the snub for a while and was my typical un-accurate self when he said, "Here, try my Ruger". Well, it was chambered for .45 Colt and had what looked to me to be about a 5.5 or 6 inch barrel. (I'm guessing here.) Knowing that it was a .45 long, I took a firm grip and planted my feet in a Weaver stance and fired at an empty Coleman fuel can that someone had nailed to the top of a fence post about 50 feet away. Boom! Dead center, first shot! I didn't even notice the recoil and the report was FAR more pleasant than my little .38 snub had been. It was just a very nice revolver with which to spend an afternoon. I was surprised at the CRACK! my .38 snub had made compared to the pleasant Boom! of the Blackhawk. The Blackhawk was MUCH nicer to shoot. I thought the Ruger owners might enjoy this post.
