Firearms ownership laws

Are there any cities that firearm ownership is flat out against the law?

I understand that licensing and such is required but are there places where your rights to bear arms are stymied from local law?

Though I do not live in any of them, . . . from many comments I have read on this and other sites, . . . San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City are very close if indeed they have not arrived at banning personal hand guns if you are not somehow "approved" by the city rulers.

The 2nd amendment case decided last year by the supreme court knocked down that type of law in Washington DC.

May God bless,

As far as any city completely banning all types of firearms, I know of none. Some ban handguns, some ban assault weapons, and some make it really really hard to obtain a firearm (if you're the law abiding citizen type)... But the shotgun and hunting rifle are universally accepted as far as I know...

As far as I know, and I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong, Oak Park,IL bans all firearm ownership. Exceptions are made for peace officers, correctional officers and security guards. Another exception is for antique firearms but they must meet the villages definition of one. I no longer live there but did when the ban went into effect, there were no provisions made to have anything grandfathered in so all weapons had to be removed from the village within 90 days of the ban going into effect or were to be surrendered to the police department.

You are required to have a permit just to own a rifle/shotgun in NYC. And owning a pistol is so difficult it would be easier to obtain if they banned it altogether.

After a quick google search (very scientific I know), all I could find were references to a handgun ban, much like Chicago's. I haven't seen anything that leads me to beleive that all firearms are banned, but I am curious now. Will have to look a bit deeper.
