Firearm to be engraved sent by FFL?

Planning on sending a revolver to have some engraving done and was wondering if the firearm has to be shipped both ways by FFL's or is it legal to send it by Fedex directly?

I had a feeling I should not have used that dremal tool! :o
 
Havn't found an engraver yet, but wanted to know before I ship it, I know you can ship directly to factory or FFL and receive it back.......
