Interested in any experiences with Fiocchi ammunition. Bulk Ammo (www.bulkammo.com) and Double Action Arms (www.double-action.com) both have Fiocchi 148 gr .357 Mag for $230/1000 rounds. Looking at Fiocchi (www.fiocchiusa.com) ballistics, their velocities and energies are significantly greater than comparable rounds from Federal, Winchester, or Remington. Consider:

#357D 125gr JSP, MV:1670fps, ME:800ft-lb

#357E 148gr JHP, MV:1500fps, ME:720ft-lb

Are these good numbers compared to the American manufacturers? If so, and the reliability and quality is there, these are bang/buck leading rounds.

Pick up my S&W Model 27-2 tomorrow and am looking to make a bulk ammo purchase for target shooting.

Appreciate any comments.

I have tried Fiocchi ammunition in 9mm Luger, 9mm Steyr, and .44 Magnum with excellent results. The .44 Magnum brass is very good quality and excellent for reloading. I intend to try their .357 Magnum soon. Some of their cartridges do seem to be loaded hotter than those of American manufacture, however. sinceyou are shooting them in a S&W Model 27 that should not be a problem.

I recently went in on a case of 9mm luger para fmj with my mom. So far no problems, and accuracy is great. as shot through a calico & beretta.

I have shot Fioccho ammo in 9 mm, .40, and .45. Excellent results, but this last case of 1000 9mm rounds had a few duds.

Another source is Kiesler's police wholesale (www.kiesler.com). Prices include shipping, which runs pretty high for 50+ lbs for a case of .45 ammo. Current prices are (9mm $139/1000, .45 $199/1000, not sure for .357 mag).

m3bullet, I shoot Fiocchi in my Sig225 and Sig228 (both 9mm). I think its good quality ammo, never had a problem yet. I get all mine from Summit Ammunition (www.summitammo.com) out of Gadsden, Alabama. Good people to deal with, and the last 2 cases I ordered a couple of weeks ago, I got for $135.00 per case, delivered to the door. :)

Funny you should ask. I had the same question when I bought 3 50 rnd boxes of .45 ACP yesterday at Arizona Sportsman for $10.99 each. I shot 2 boxes this afternoon with nary a hitch through my USPc. I'm going back for more at that price.

I use Fiocchi in 9x19 cal. I doubt you
can buy better ammo in "Fiocchi's" price range of $8-9 per 50, except german-made
GECO brand (Dynamite Nobel)...
Most U.S. made commercial brands in the same price range are far behind both in power and accuracy (in comparison, of course).

Fiocchi are the best bullets I've ever tried. They accurate and shoot very clean! Much better that others I've used such as Winchester, Remington, UMC.

I bought a case of .40 S&W from Bulk-Ammo and have had NO problems ... I think they are one of the best deals out there!

I think you get the picture from all the positive responses. Fiocchi is to Italy/Europe as Federal is to the U.S.A. (Although, I think they now have a plant in the U.S.)

I've shot 2 cases of the Fiocchi .357 ammo in my Smith and Wesson Performance Center 627. I bought it at $149 a case from Kiesler's Wholesale two years ago, and it was the 125 grain conical head full metal jacket. It was some of the most accurate and clean .357 ammo I've ever shot, and I currently reload with the brass. I loved the stuff, and wish I bought a few more cases of it at that price.

Mal H:

All responses being positive is quite impressive. I'm most surprised with the Fiocchi (357D & 357E) rounds as the prices for comparable rounds from U.S. manufacturer's are almost twice the Fiocchi product, plus the Fiocchi ballistics numbers are 30-35% higher. I'm ordering a case of 357E ASAP, and will probably follow with a case of 40S&W shortly.

Thanks for all the responses.

Since you mentioned the .40S&W ... They make 145 grain and 180 grain ... I've read somewhere that the 180 grain .40 loads, being a little longer, in general are a little more prone to over-compressing the powder if you cycle them in and out of a carry weapon. The 145 jhp's have been great and I'd recommend them.

I've shot Fiocchi FMJ & JHP in .45, 9mm, .380, .38, .357, and .32. all in all great stuff, a bit hotter than most domestic brand of a given rating. My Tomcat is iffy on their JHP, but it's known to be a finicky eater, so I stick to Slivertips, Gold Dots and HydraShoks in it. Excellent bang for the buck.

I´ve shot about 20.000 rounds of Fiocchi now.
In many calibers (9mm, .40, .45, .357, .38, 10mm ...).
A litle bit hard, not too dirty and no problems !
It´s my favorite cheap ammo for practice.

Remington 870 rocks !

Hey, I too like Fiocchi, however, it for me is the dirtiest ammo I have ever used. Regardless of how much I shoot, I will scope my barrel out and see chunks of residue. I clean my handguns after every range session, but if you aren't diligent enough to clean your handgun when you are done shooting, there are cleaner brands out there. I agree that you can't beat the price, and the ammo has been 100% reliable for me. Happy shooting!! Mike

@BigMike:

If you´re looking for clean ammo, have a look at Winchester´s Super X ... and you´ll never have to clean your gun again !

But Fiocchi isn´t too dirty, just try Norinco (from China), extremely hard extremely dirty !

I have used Fiocchi in 9x18 Makarov (FMJ & FMJHP), 9x19 (115gr FMJ) and .45 ACP (230gr FMJ). All have been reliable so far. Check your box, my box of .45 ACP was made in Hungary! European manufacturers tend to load their ammo hotter than US manufacturers IMHO.
