Finishes, coatings and boron carbide

This doesn't seem to have been addressed recently (not that SEARCH and I can find, anyway); but I would like to know if boronizing or boron carbide coating is still available.

Things like: Does BodyCote still accept shipment direct from any FFL-holder? Is there and exclusive middleman?

What are alternative finishes or coating that I should consider? Things like TiCN, and WS2 come to mind. (Sorry, but as functional as TiN is, I'm just not interseted in any gold-colored firearms. :p )

Thanks for your help.

I am lucky enough to have my EAGLE 1 finished in Diamond Black Tungsten DLC by Bodycote. Darrel offered to finish the first Online 1911 Class guns with this finish and he did it and kept his word long after they quit doing it for individual pistolsmiths.
They soon found out that doing individual guns was a time consuming, pain in the butt ,so they quit it. The folks that sent them were not like myself, who sent them guns that were prepared, or prepped ,and ready for the finish. I have never trusted re-finishers to prep guns like I do with TLC and skill. To me, the preparation for the finish is all important and I am sure the top smiths would agree with me.
Bodycote is still very much in business as you can see in the SIG 1911 black guns, as they like to do a bunch of parts at once for manufacturers now. My 1911 has the best gun finish I have ever seen in my lifetime and I only wish they would go back to doing one at a time. I offered to go to the Plant and train some people on how to take them apart and prep them, but my offer was rejected, thank God! It is a wonderful company and I see their finish on knife blades here and there in advertisments.

de ja vuz, we already had this conversation on finishes, haven't we?? :D

With the way my project just changed, I will need to refinish the lower half, so I'm going to revisit the "What finish should I get?" question.

Thanks guys. The only thing I could find through search was a thread from 2001 which I just didn't trust to up-to-date.

So, apparently Diamond Black is no longer an option?
