I Just completed the magazine conversion on my WASR 10/63. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use to re-finish the ground areas with? By the way, the conversion was easy and went well. The rifle functions great. Thanks TFL members for the great info.
I have used this method many times over the years and have had good luck with it:
Heat the surface and use cold blue solution until you have the desired look. After applying the solution wipe it down with water and then wipe with oil. You can also use 0000 steel (or bronze) wool to burnish the finish.
The longer you wait before wiping it, the darker it will get. It is somewhat hard to see in this picture, but I used the above method to blue the small filler piece at the lower rear of the receiver on my Zastava AK.
