Finding the lightest load for a sub compact

My wife just got a Lc9s. I don't reload but would like to find the lightest load for the range and self defense. Any suggestions?

Sometimes the lower priced range ammo is loaded lighter.
But the only way to know is either check what you buy yourself or look at the specs on the ammo manufacturers' web sites.
If your wife is having trouble with recoil, there's changes in her shooting technique that can greatly reduce felt recoil.
You might see if there's a well thought of instructor in your area who can help with that.

g. willikers is correct. I will add that standard pressure 147 grain ammo recoil seems very soft to shoot to me. There are both range/practice and SD type 147 grain ammo available. One standard pressure 147 grain type that I would not recommend if you're looking for light recoil is the Speer Lawman training ammo. This is fine ammo, I have used a bunch, but it is intentionally loaded to duplicate duty ammo specs and is a little warmer than other 147 I have used. For instance, 147 grain Lawman displays more velocity, and of course recoil, than the Federal 147 grain +P HST duty ammo..........

Light loads, and small semi-autos is a recipe for unreliability. Add in an inexperienced shooter, or one who has difficulty with recoil and/or a health problem affecting hand strength and you have the perfect storm.
