Ahhhhhh

I like the Tylor T grip adaptor.

Old school retro baby!!!!

Mind if i ask what the ol 5 screw set ya back??
Hi

Don't mind at all :-)

It was $400 all included Dross, Taxes Etc..Etc

The tag that came with it says M&P 1st mod

Gary

Well,

A recent Model 58, and now a beautiful vintage M&P. As I said in that other thread, I love the fixed sight Smiths, and now you have another fine specimen.

Congrats.

Funny thing is when I look at it I keep thinking of that old cop show Adam12. But didn't they use model 15's in that one?

The wildest thing is the scratches are on both sides of the frame but only one side of the cylinder. Plus the normal holster wear at the muzzle :-)Also The tag on the revolver says 1st model but as I understand it the 1st model had a free standing ejector Rod this one doesn't plus the SN has a "S" prefix

Definitely not a Model of 1899. Someone didn't do their homework at the gunshop where you were.

Either very late World War II or just post World War II.

Is it common for the T-grip to have that much verbiage?

An old school smith is just about as close to perfection as a man can get.

In today's market that isn't an unreasonable price. Of course there will be those who disagree with me. If it's a transitional M&P with the S prefix serial number and if it's in good shape than $600.00 isn't crazy at all.

I'd pay that and a half for a five inch M&P, especially with the T-Grip.

The T-Grip, to me anyway, shows that the revolver was bought to be used, not somebody's safe queen. I like that,

"In today's market that isn't an unreasonable price."

WHAT!!! You didn't GET money from the seller to take it off his hands?

You were ripped off!

Yeah, there are times when I'm both amused and dismayed at some of the price claims I see here and other places...

Excuse me, but just where are these gunshows with vast rows of Mint in Box S&W Hand Ejectors of all sizes and chamberings, and not a single one of them more than $99.95?

Where in the name of all that's holy is that universe?

Because I want to move there.

Before I temporarily quit going to gun shows 18 months because of the insane prices and the even more insane crowds even ragged out Model 10s were moving over $300, and minty examples had crested $450.

And it was not at all uncommon to see more than a few at every show priced at $500 or more.

That's not a tyler T grip, it was probably made by pachamyr. More appropriate for such a lovely shooter. I want one just like it.

There ought to be a law,,,

There ought to be a law,,,
That every gun owner in the USA own a fixed sight k-frame revolver.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a model 10,,,
A model 12 or 13 would do just as well.

I own all kinds of fancy guns,,,
But every now and then I take my model 12 out,,,
It reminds me that practical accuracy is about the shooter not the gun.

Nice catch my friend,,,

Howdy

Model names can be confusing with the pre-1957 Smiths.

The one with the free standing ejector rod that you are talking about was the Model 1899. This is a Model 1899. Yes, it has been refinished, but it is an 1899. Notice there is no lug under the barrel at the end of the extractor rod.

Then there was the Model 1902 and the Model 1905. I don't have my S&W reference books handy right now, but I'm pretty sure the Model 1905 went through 4 changes, the Fourth Change being the latest and most common, it was produced for many years. I'll have to look it up when I get home. Just judging from the appearance, I think you probably have a Model 1905 4th Change. Don't hold me to that until I get home to look it up.

These days $400 is about right for a nice old Five Screw. I have seen lots recently with much higher asking prices. The days of picking up nice old K frames for $200 are long gone.

I think I have probably made up for about 40 guys who don't have one.

Howdy Again

The S in the Serial Number tells us it is a post WWII gun. S&W changed over from the V (for Victory) series to S in 1945, starting with S811120 in 1945 up to S999999 in 1948. After S999999 they went to a C prefix.

The grip adapter says "Sure Grip Adapter" Mershon Co. inc. Glendale Ca
