Finally got myself a 22 rifle!

I got a Mossberg 702 plinkster. It is semi auto and has a 10 round magazine. I unboxed it, cleaned it and put it away until I can go out and shoot it next week.

I have read many good reviews on this gun and decided for $117 it was a good deal. Anybody else have one of these?

Yep, I have one,,,

And so far it's been a flawless performer.

I'm fairly certain that last season,,,
I went through more than three 550 round Federal Bulk Packs,,,
It's the rifle I take when I'm out to have fun with my tin can killing friends.

The little gun just kept on shooting.

It's my only semi-auto,,,
I don't feel the need for anything else.

The one I have is very accurate and reliable. I paid less than $100 for mine about 3 yrs ago. Its been a good rifle up to this point. I wouldnt put it in the class of a 10/22 but a good rifle non the less.

Congrats Nocturnus

I got my .22 rifle a while after I got into shooting. Now wishing I had bought it first. Hours and hours of fun for super cheap. By far my most used gun now. I want to get a .22 pistol next, but unfortunately that will be a ways down the road. I am leaning toward the S&W 22A.

My .22 rifle is a Savage Mark II that I always talk about. It seems like I find a way to bring it into just about every post (I hope I don't really). I guess that really goes to show how much I enjoy it.

Have fun with your .22 as I am sure you will.

Ah yes, the .22. Way too much fun, but easy on the wallet!
I actually have a Marlin 795 and I'll be purchasing their XT-22 when I get a chance. I haven't heard anything bad about it, so all I can say is good luck with it! :)

And hey, if you're ever looking to buy another semi-auto, I personally would recommend the Marlin 795. Anyway, good luck with the 702!

As for a scope, any old airgun 4x32 scope would work...
But how about this one?

I have Tasco's Red Dot on my 795 and it's been great. Actually, when I buy the XT, I was planning to put this scope on it. There is cheaper of course.

Bought a Marlin 795 a few months ago at Dick's for $110, having a lot of fun with it. Pretty accurate and very reliable for the money. Long live the .22

Re: scope

I got a low cost Simmons scope from Optic Planet that I like. I think it's 3-9 magnification, not positive right now. My cousin has two or three of the same model on different guns, including his AK. Neither one of us have ran into any problems with them. I think I only paid $30-$40 or so...???
