The K31 has been a rifle that I've wanted to own for the last 10 years or so. I have never got around to purchasing one though, and over the years the prices have continued to go up.

I was at one of my LGS yesterday, and they had two of them on the rack. One was in pristine condition, but had a beech wood stock, and some of the screws were not original. I passed on this one.

The other had a walnut stock, and was also in excellent condition, minus several dings in the stock. It also had the original leather sling as well.

I haggled with them for awhile, and ended up getting the one with the walnut stock for $260. I have not seen any K31's for that price in a long time. They are usually listed for $350+, and some are in worse condition.

My particular rifle was manufactured in 1944 based on the S/N. The bluing is pretty good on it still, and the bore and the internals are pristine. The stock has some dings in it, but doesn't appear to have any repairs or cracks in it anywhere. It is also an all numbers matching gun.

I ordered up some ammo for it and will be taking it out to shoot sometime soon. Overall, I was really happy to finally purchase a gun that I have wanted for such a long time.

I saw a video of Hickok45 shooting one yesterday. I think I want one too. I have no clue what to expect to pay for one though.

They used to be relatively cheap, but the price has increased greatly over the years. I was checking Gunbroker often, and they were anywhere from $350-$500 usually. Some were in very poor condition as well.

I was happy to find one locally for $260. I remember 10 years ago or so, they were fairly common at gunshows and at gun shops. I rarely see them anymore.

I bought two of them about 10 years ago for about $130 each. A few weeks ago I tried to sell one for $400 with no takers. I'm sure they will bring that sooner or later but no bites on mine. They are great rifles but be aware of OAL when reloading. The bullet shape will make a difference.

$260?!?! I'd say you got a deal! I bought one for $150 about 8 years ago. Sold three years ago for $250 as I needed money for a move back home. Miss that rifle a lot. Been thinking about buying another one again. Never really though much of it when I had it, other then it was a handy, reliable, TIGHT shooter for being a mil-surp rifle. Funny how that works. After I sold it, I realized that I really like that thing! Anyone ever find the plasticized ID card under the butt-plate on theirs? I checked my old one, no luck.
