Finally fired my new MK40 :)

Whenever I buy a new gun, I usually don't get to shoot it for a couple weeks because of time or money shortages. It's always a relief when I finally take it to the range and everything works properly. I haven't gotten a lemon yet, but whenever I take home a new gun I wonder if this will be the one that gets sent back and forth to the factory before it's finally sold or traded at a loss.

For the last few weeks I've had a new Kahr MK40 waiting to be fired and I've been wondering if I made the right choice to buy this gun. I've heard almost nothing but good things about the all steel Kahrs, so I had high hopes for this little gun. The only things that concerned me were that the recoil would make it very difficult to control, and that it might be one of the few bad ones. This is also my first .40 (I used to say I'll never own a .40) and it was a tough decision between the MK9 and MK40.

All my doubts about the gun, and the .40 round were erased today. I finally got to put 106 rounds through it today, and plan on putting at least another 100 through it tomorrow. The gun was fun to shoot. Recoil was less than I expected, even with the 180 gr. Hydra-Shoks that are my current defense rounds. The pistol functioned perfectly and it was plenty accurate for defense.

So far, I am very impressed with this little gun and look forward to continuing the break in tomorrow. :D

Same experience with my MK9. Have probably 500 rounds through it by now. No failures of any kind. Recoil is virtually non-existent...amazing for such a little gun. At 5.3 inches long, very easy to conceal. Can't imagine a better "small" gun on the market today.

Kahr MKs aren't the bruisers many expect them to be. Quite the opposite. It has to do with the weight. Not that 25 or so onces is heavy, mind you.

It's good to hear from other happy Kahr owners. Kahr is a pistol you don't hear as much about as Glock, Sig, HK, or Beretta, but is every bit as good in my opinion. The quality of this gun is outstanding, I don't know why they're not more popular.

I shot 50 rounds of win clean through it today with no problems. I still can't believe how nice it is to shoot. Now I want a 9mm Kahr!
