Finally brought her home....

Well I finally got to bring her home and get out to the range.

She's a Model 28 (no dash) circa 1960 ~ 1961 by the serial #. Marvelous trigger. Mechanically in great shape. Shoots better then I do.

Everyone should have a nice wheel gun in the collection. Now I just need a nice blued Model 36 to keep her company.

I paid $399 which is high by most standards, but here in the PRK we take what we can get. Old S&W (and most other guns) are only available if they are all ready in the state and must be a PPT or consignment purchase. I can only read and weep over the deals I see on line and in print.

Hello and congratulations on your M28. These are just, plain, good ol' guns in my view. I've got one, an old 4-screw that's in like new condition. It continues to be a favorite.

Best.

One of my 27s sleeps with a 36.
Was blessed with another I frame not long ago.:D

27 and 28 are serious shootin guns. Sweet actions and tack drivers with ammo that they like.

Enjoy your nice new friend.

Like my friends Steve Camp and C.R. Sam, I just wanted
to extend my congratulations. The S&W model 28's are
my all-time favorites as well. What a beautiful sight!

Jeff, how do you like those Hogue wood grips on your 28?

I am thinking about a set of wood grips for my blued 29 Classic.

Hogues

I like them a lot.

Easy to shoot .38 & .38+P's. Hot .357's weren't fun after a while. Hogue rubber grips would have been easier, but these are so much prettier to look at. :D

I just got back from the local gun show in Costa Mesa, CA. It is damn hard to find .38+P LSWC 158gr HP's. Everyone has JHP's. Found one box of Winchester in the entire show.

Just got back from the show myself. Been trying to find a Model 57. None there that I could see. That 28 is mighty tasty. BTW, the show seems to be getting larger since the Great Western Show at the Pomona Fairgrounds was "outlawed."
