Now I need to fit it to the receiver and sand it down. What # cabinet rasp would be good for the final fitting, maybe 1/8th inch at most will need to be taken off. Advice.....
 
Use a 12" ruler to ensure it is level or to identify the high spot. Then sand.

Make sure the ruler is straight, first. ;)

I have two metal "straight edge" rulers on my bench, as I type this. Both are bowed by 0.015" to 0.020". One "straight" edge is convex. The other "straight" edge is concave. :rolleyes:
