Final question before the buy (New or Used)

I've decided to buy another shotgun, mainly for the purposes of squirrel hunting....and maybe rabbit....etc...and it's narrowed down to a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 Express....the final question is new or used. I can pick up a used 500 for 205 OTD...while a new Moss or 870 will run around 250-260 plus tax. The only reason I could think of to buy new is the warranty....but really how much would I need it????

Thoughts?????

Just check for wear on the used ones, but if they all look good, it's complete personal prefrence. IMO, it makes no difference.

Edward429451, hell I'd love to find a Wingmaster for 212, but no such luck finding one around here used. I've called about 6 different gun shops, and a couple pawn shops....only one even has a Mossberg 500. My understanding is that most of the differences between the Wingmaster and the Express are cosmetic...and while the Wingmaster may be a bit smoother, and more cosemetically appealling, the Express is on par with reliablility and durability...which is what I'm more worried about.

In that case then get the 870 Express. Seems like almost all the used Mossbergs are loosy goosy even if ok when new. Durability nod goes to Remington.

As for the pawnshops...they might not even know if they have a WM. The guy where I bought mine didn't. He had 250 on it and I says but I can go right over to Walmart and get an 870 for 189. So he matched it not knowing what it really was.:D

what about a browning?

I have 2 brownings, 1 in 20 gauge and 1 in 12. they both have a top tang safety and are bottom eject, either a lefty or righty can use. Also, probably the most indestructable gun on the market. If you pic 1 up, you wont be sorry, even used ones are a great buy.
