Field reports on Glock43 yet?

After surviving the problem-filled rollout of the G42,I swore no more"first testors"for me! I even turned down one offered in a two-fer deal.So now I'm asking TFL,what are you hearing regarding the G43? TIA :D

2 most prevalent issues I have heard about are...

1-magazines scrapping or hanging on the mag catch or something to that effect.

2-The slide locking back pre-maturely. Usually with +P or defensive ammo.

Gun & Ammo mag just did a feature article this month testing a variety of single stack 9's. Glock 43 was one of the top finishers in a torture test of well over a thousand rounds without a single malfunction.

I shot about 72 rounds from one two weeks ago. I was not impressed, either positively of negatively. Very Ho-Hum on that.

I normally shoot the Shield as that is my carry gun. I bought both the 9mm and the 40. I do not see and objective difference in the two. That "GLOCK" printed on the side means nothing to me, and it certainly isn't worth the $75-$125 price difference.

400-ish rounds through mine so far and no issues except for the mag hang up issue a couple of times early on. It's a problem with a sharp edge on the bottom of the release. It wears in over time or you can get a replacement from Glock that fixes it from what I understand. Either way, mine has been flawless. I did swap out for a Ghost Edge connector to bring it down to the normal Glock ~5.5lb. trigger weight. Reset is more pronounced but otherwise it feels very much like a normal Glock trigger now. Stock was just too heavy at around 8lbs. First day it was shot was 250-300 rounds where 7 or 8 of us were trying it out. 3 or 4 of them are looking for one now if that gives you any ideas. Great little gun but don't fall for the markup a lot of dealers have.

I can add that the G43 offered in OP was $600.Dealer told me when the market becomes saturated, price will be around$475. :D

600!!!!!

They are 465ish all day around here and I have run into three on the shelf to buy.

I have seen more 43's in these early months then the Glock 42 when it came out.

I've got about 200 rounds through mine, and the only hiccup was a stovepipe when my wife shot it. I have had that magazine catching problem but it doesn't bother me enough to send it back like I did my G42. Overall, I'm really happy with my G43....enough that I'm giving the G42 to my sister in Houston.

Dave, that sounds like an issue to me. An issue within 400 rounds would make me very uneasy about a carry weapon. I understand you are determined to like it because its a "Glock" but it has not proven itself until 1000 flawless rounds in my book.

If the few 'hangups' were in the first 50 or so rounds and didn't occur again with 400 rounds shot, I would not lose sleep over it. Guns fine to me.

Sooner or later I'll get one. I see 'em around here for $480 or so. I'll bite when they get to $450.

I probably will too, "sooner or later", although I swore I wasnt going to get a 42 either, and now have 2.

I got to look at a 43 last week, and pretty much confirmed what my initial opinion was when I got the 42's, my 26's are not going anywhere.

Now, Ill just have to have some discipline and walk on by the gun counters, and not buy a 43 too. The boys at the local shops know me to well, and are always putting things I dont need, or really want, in my hands, as soon as I walk in.

I guess they know when its payday, and know well what the smell of pockets burning smells like. :)

The Glock 43 seemed like a good serviceable weapon, no better or worse than the shield. Certainly not a "C" notes worth better.

I do note that the 43 has one less round in the flush fit magazine. (and it only comes with one) extra magazines go for about $25. Brownells shows one with a pinky extension made by Glock, still only 6 rounds.

And the write ups in the gun rags mean nothing. These magazines do not write critically about the products their advertisers sell. Every gun is the greatest gun there ever was. Finding an article that is not a glowing report is rare.

The Shield gets great more long-term reviews, and is only $350 over at Aimsurplus.

Kahr CW9 or P9 is the same size gun in the $350-$450 range.

I love Glock, but not enough to spend $125-250 more for a tool that does the same thing with less-time on the market.

I'm "determined to like it because its a Glock"? I'm afraid you don't know much about me. I don't care if it's a Glock, S&W, Sig, etc. If it works, it works. 0 failures outside of me sticking the mag in at a funky angle a few times. It's proven itself. She's still going, 0 failures, 9-10 different shooters w/ varying amounts of experience, and she hasn't even been cleaned yet. Yeah, she's "proven". It would appear that you're determined NOT to like it because it's a "Glock". I've never understood why some people are so intimidated by what other people like.

I guess it really depends on what you're looking for. The fact that it's smaller and lighter than the Shield is worth quite a bit to me. The Shield is a good gun but it's not any easier for me to conceal than a Glock 19 or M&P Compact. The XDS & 43 both do a better job hiding.

Also I don't know why you'd think there's only 1 mag with the 43. Like pretty much every big-name gun out there, it comes with 2 mags. 1 flush & 1 with a pinky extension.
