FFL contact issues- what next?

Bought a shotgun from Bud's and used one of their "preferred" FFL's. I had to laugh when I read the post about the $30 transfer fee, because I selected the guy because he was closest to me and only charges $20 according to Bud's. Well, with the preferred deal, you're not supposed to have to contact the guy, but I did anyway after the purchase just to gove him a "heads up."

Well, the gun was delivered to an "office" and signed for by "Church" according to UPS on Friday and when I called to make arrangements to go pick it up, his phone was "not in service- please ceck the number and try again. I tried to make a trip out to the location listed, but either MapQuest has it wrong or the address doesn't exist. I found an e-mail link on Gunbroker to the fellow and left a message, but no response yet. Also left word with Bud's, and a manager is supposed to get back to me on Monday.

What's a guy to do in this mess? And so much for trying to save a buck...

Yikes... I would think that Bud's seriously needs to lead the way on this one, since one would think they would check out any FFLs that they keep on file, and make sure they are legitimate. This is about their integrity, and shipping guns out to disappear in the ether is a bad situation.

Well, it's a tough one.

I know Buds has probably hundreds of these preferred guys, and they've always been great in the past. I also paid the extra $6 I think it was for them to be responsible for delivery. So I'm hoping they'll come through.

I also know we're in hard times and there might be a perfectly good reason why the phone is out. And like I say, Mapquest and Google maps aren't always reliable. I'm going to go abit further down the road into the next town after work tomorrow if I don't hear anything and see if the street numbers change...maybe I can find the place.

But the fellow does have my number, and I'd have hoped if he knows his phone is out or changing, he'd try to get in touch and arrange for the pickup.

Just wondering what will happen and what to do if not....

Related to your PM, "Church" could be someone's name, and not related to a church at all.

It would be nice if delivery services logged the gps coords of the delivery. They might have it, but they might only provide that info to the sender.

If you have no luck tracking down a valid phone number or address, and Bud's can't help, as a last resort you could try contacting the ATF. :(

Well, thank goodness I just got a call from the fellow, and the gunbroker e-mail was good so he got my message. Like I was hoping, he's going wireless to save the expense and just hadn't changed the number yet.

Always glad when it turns out to be worrying about nothing :)

I'm a "preferred dealer" with Bud's........

and I'm sitting on two shipments because both buyers gave Bud's incorrect phone numbers when they did their checkout.

Although Bud's says the buyer doesn't need to contact the dealer before ordering.....I highly recommend doing so because of the above.

I really can't imagine not contacting the dealer before I had a firearm shipped to them and I have an even harder time imagining why any company would specifically tell you not to. Very strange. I wouldn't consider it.

We've got a couple of guys here in VT that do a lot of transfers on orders from Bud's, Gunbroker, etc.

Jimmy and Bob have both told me not to bother contacting them about incoming orders, they will just assume that I'm watching the tracking and know when it arrives.
