We went out to the Manatee gun range for some final testing. I was testing the new muzzle break and a DPMS single shot lower. The break worked better than expected. The recoil is a push that feels like a .308. I get a short travel (1.5" to 2") and an abrupt stop in the rearward movement. Even when I relax and hold the gun looser than normal, the break halts the rearward movement.

The lower did great. NO sign of wear or abuse. Due to the new firing pin, I was able to use the stock hammer. Now it is possible to use a two stage trigger.

I am very pleased with the performance of the Ferret50. It drew a crowd as always.

I have updated the pics on the site.

I am putting together an order of 30" barrels. So if you wanted a Ferret50 with a longer barrel, now is the time. Sale price for a Ferret50 w/30" barrel is $1500.00, delivered. Sale price for a Ferret50 w/18" barrel is $1350.00.

Moose shoot in Alaska, sounds like a fun trip.
I have over 250 rounds through the prototype. Last Friday I only went through 20. I was dead tired and overheated after taking 8 hours to get to the range (flat tire and all).

I will be heading to the range again, but not for a few weeks. Were moving to a bigger shop to have room for the CNC machine.

Dave,

Do you have any good (accurate) ammo, or are you shooting milsurp stuff?

If you've got some good ammo, did you fire any shots for record, or was this mostly a function test?

John

So far I have been shooting mil surp for function. I have to say that in spite of that, accuracy has been good. I will be shooting match ammo on the next trip to the range.

Left hand version is available. Wait time, the end of September.

do you have a side view of the rifle with a 30" barrel..i think that is sort of my direction if it looks good--you know you gotta look good.....Dick

1) Who makes the 30" barrel? Lothar Walther?
2) How much does the upper weigh with the 30" barrel?
3) Match or mil-spec chamber?
4) What kind of warranty?

Thanks!

Lothat Walther makes all my barrels. I know the chamber is not military, but it is not too tight that mil surp wont work. I think that Woody at Lothar has his own prefered chamber spec. I trust Woody, he knows his stuff.

The Ferret50 with a 30" barrel weighs about 23 lb, the Ferret50 with a 18" barrel weighs 17 lb 15 oz. That is with the lower and bipod installed.

Sorry, I dont have any pics of the 30" barrel.

Warranty, yes. If you ever have a concern or problem with your Ferret50, please contact me. I will either fix it or send you the parts for it, which ever is best for you.

Payments, yes.

The prototype was made on manual machines. I had hired job shops to make parts. Due to many delays by them I have decided I am not going to go through what other gun manufacturers I know have. Waiting for months for parts.

Before making this decision I had been shopping for a CNC machine, figuring that after I deliver 50 or so uppers I would bring everything in house. I have looked at over 30 machines. When mid August came around and none of my parts were here I began to finalize a deal with Haas.

Our new shop with our new machine will be up and running by the first week in September. I have every intention to work around the clock to deliver all paid orders by the end of September.
