FEMA cards misused

Seems the FEMA credit cards that were given to the Katrina victims for basic needs have been used for everything but. Strippers, porn, a divorce, and a sex-change operation.

Imagine what a REAL FIT the media would pitch if someone had bought guns and ammo for the next SHTF situation with government funds, no less.:D

An AR15, or an AK and a couple thousand rounds to go along with it?
 
Why does this not surprise me? Give free money a group of people and %99 will use it only as needed, the rest will squander it. Same deal with welfare. But this is just another case of media sensationalism. A year ago it was "send money and aid", and "why isn't the government here to help"? Now the dog has a new bone.

I would like to think that the majority of that money was well spent by families just trying to get their lives back together.
 
The FEMA cards are just one more thing for your average low life to abuse. I work in retail and you would be surprised to know that some of the people who drive a Benz and wear lots of gold and diamonds and such are also the jobless ones with foodstamps and welfare.

While I'm sure that does happen from time to time it's the exception rather than the rule. It's not easy to aquire luxury items legally when you live on welfare checks.
 
Actually, weren't some of those misappropriated funds sent to some convicts in a prison who falsely used a N.O. cemetery address on their app? So it's not just bad apples affected by the hurricane... it's bad apples elsewhere that were able to fool the feds into giving them $$.
 
The same bad apples that re-elected Ray Nagin and support his gun-grabbing PD Chief.

Trying to keep this gun-related, how do you think the media would have reacted if someone had bought guns with the FEMA cards?
