I had to deal with this for about a month a few years ago. Now a friend of mine is dealing with the same issue. I cannot seem to get a strait enough answer so I figure Id bring it here.

If your fire arms are properly locked away, inside of a garage, bedroom or basement. If you are the only one who has access to the key that opens the gun chest and/or Trigger locks ex. (or the combination to the safe)

Can anyone get in trouble? Either gun owner or felon?

If they can access where the guns are stored then they have constructive possession.

If they cannot then the law likely considers them to not have possession.

But I am no lawyer.
