Have a look at page 9, the 14 February issue of Shotgun News, where you will find comment on the ILLEGAL REGISTRY OF HANDGUNS maintained by the Pennsylvania State Police.
October 2004 saw the State Supreme Court blow it, by ruling that what is obviously a registry of firearms isn't, therefore allowing the State Fuzz to carry on with their ILLEGAL, according to existing state law, operation. By the way, even the stalwarts at the FBI found this state Police operation in violation of the United States Code, however they, the State Police, formerly known as The Coal and Iron Cops, anyone care to guess as to why, carry on as before.
The state legislature can fix the problem, via clarifying what is already clear to any who can read English, however they will not act until and unless they feel pressure and heat, a whole lot of each, from their constituents.
Given that registration schemes serve only to convenience the confiscation of such firearms as have been registered, the guns that might be saved by legislative action could well be yours. I also submit that the PSP need to learn, once and for all that they are not the bosses.
Pressure brought to bear on your elected things could serve two purposes. It could help to deliver the above mentioned and necessary lesson, and it could, as above mentioned, save your guns from confiscation, such as has taken place in this country. The rest is up to those who read the foregoing.
Lest one forget, the rights you defend are yours, and should you choose not to defend them, or otherwise fail to so do, do not expect anyone else to take up the cause that you let fall.
