No dissent here!
I recently bought my old SMC-380 back from the friend who'd bought it from me. It isn't that I have any use for the thing (not a big fan of the .380 for personal protection) . . . I just missed shooting it.
I've been very impressed with the accuracy of my SMC pistol, and the value. Its fit and finish aren't up to Walther (or even Interarms) standards. The reliability is better than the Interarms "Walthers" I've fired (I only recall firing German .32s, which worked flawlessly with ball - though I handled lots of other German Walthers when I worked in a gun store . . . oh, those .22 PPKs!). The accuracy is the same. The ergonomics are better (no "Walther bite" here) . . . except for that stupid grooved trigger face. Triggers are smooth as the Walther-USAs (and every bit as heavy!).
Frankly, I can't think of a (noncollecting) scenario where I'd recommend a friend buy a Walther over an FEG. It's a slightly more modern design that seems to be more reliable and be just as good in other areas. I agree, it's a lot of gun for the money and one of the best .380s on the market.
