FEG PMK 380

Hi guys
Do anyone have one. I bought one about 5 years ago for my wife she likes it and shoots it well. Only about 5 FTF's in about 500 rounds not to bad for a cheap Hungerian handgun. I was just wondering if anybody has any experiences with them.

I've had mine for a long time and never had a jam with factory ammo.

You can find a LOT of info by looking up old threads on the PA-63 (which your pisol is a variant of)

I've had one for about 5 years as well. I carry it as my "Coop Dee Grassy" pistol for deer hunting.
Mine is kind of ammo sensitive but it shoots Federal Hydra-Shocks flawlessly so thats what I use.
This pistol is streets ahead of American guns in the same price range.

I bought a PP Walther copy by Hungarian Arms Works several weeks ago. Next to my Ruger MKII it's the most accurate handgun I own. It has an alloy frame, which I wasn't crazy about at first, but it functioned flawlessly. It's a modal PPH and I'd like some history/background on this gun if anyone out there has any.

I was just examining one of these tonight. It was involved in a accidental shooting were the person shot himself five (5) times. He had been drinking and everyone chalked it up to his simply having been drunk. He said that he was loading it to shoot racoons that had gotten into his garbage and "it just went off".

We found that if you load the pistol and shoot it, everything went just fine.

However, if you use the decocking lever or drop the slide with the decocking lever in the "safe" postion the pistol goes fullauto (hence his being shot five times).

When the pistol is decocked, it cams a hammer block over the firing pin. This particular pistol had been decocked enough times that the cam was slightly peened, allowing the hammer to ever so slightly contact the firing pin. Every time the slide goes forward, it drops the hammer again because the decocking lever is "on". It will empty the pistol in about .10 second when timed on a shot timer.

The metalurgy in Hungry just isn't up to snuff.

Before you ask, the pistol is going to be destroyed.

To the previous post (SHOT 5 TIMES)
I have a FEG Mark II in 22LR. I had no shooting problems with HP Win ammo. When I tried some 40 gr. solid Gold Medal target ammo, the gun would occassionally shoot rapid fire 2-3 round bursts. It was unrelated to trigger pull tension. It never happened with the first ammo. It never emptied the clip. I did not think to look at differences between whether the previous were fired from: racked slide on safe, racked on fire, after a normal single action round, after a normal DA round.
I plan on trying a 3rd ammo and the 40 gr. ammo again tomorrow. Any ideas of what I should look for would be appreciated.
From my understanding, with cheap Euro guns you should most definately handle them in the safest of manner because of less reliable safeties, firing pin blocks etc. any input would be appreciated, thanks.

My buddy has my old PA-63 that I picked up about 8 or 9 years ago. It was always flawless being a very reliable and accurate shooter. I only replaced it when I picked up a Walther instead. To be honest the Walther didn't shoot any better than the PA-63 but after paying for the Walther I couldn't very well admit that so I sold my buddy the 63 :)

I think they're a great value for the money. Mine worked great and is still performing well for my pal. Another buddy of mine has the .380 PMK that he's had for about 7 or 8 years and he's equally pleased with it.

as to the full auto issue, well heck, where else are you going to get a full auto machine pistol for $150? That's an outright bargain! ;)

I also have an FEG PMK 380. Unfortunately, it is winter here in Northeast Wisconsin and I haven't had a chance to fire it more than a few rounds.

I had my gunsmith do a bunch of work on it, including a trigger job (as far as one can go, considering the starting point), bluing the slide, shotblasting the alloy frame to a natural color, smoothing rough edges on the trigger, smoothing the feed ramp, and replacing the front sight with a small shotgun brass bead. I'm pleased with the final two-tone look, at least.

I did have a problem with one of the mags. It would not come out of the gun without taking off the grip panels! I sent it in to the importer KBI with proof of purchase, and they replaced it immediately with a good one. The mag fit is a bit on the tight side for my taste (guess I won't shoot IPSC matches with it, ha ha).

Also, I still have to find the right sight picture with the front bead and original (and minimal) rear sight with a rounded notch. Of course, one might argue that this is a point-shooting piece.

I look forward to putting a few hundred rounds of Winchester 380 though it when the weather warms. I would prefer non-full-auto operation.

I've owned an FEG APK Mk II in .380 for two years. A clone of PPK, so it must be a near cousin? Same pistol with different name? This was imported by Interarms. I enjoy it very much. Reliable and accurate. I routinely shoot 3" groups at 15 yds. It doesn't like conical bullets, but shoots round noses just fine, so I stick with UMC for target/plinking and Golden Sabre's for erious work. With that ammo it functions flawlwessly. Probably 1,000 round through it so far. No doubles or "full auto's" (but I do watch my mussle when I use the decocker) My SA trigger pull is fine. DA is quite heavy, but I wouldn't change that. So yeah, mine was a great value for the money. Performs like a PPK for under $250. I highly recommend it.

Wow! It is nice to see so many responses. I am glad everyone is happy with their guns. Thanks for the info on the decocking lever, I"ll have to keep an eye on it. Does anyone have any other interesting guns to talk about I"m sure everyone would like to hear some comments I know I will. Good shooting and be well everyone. racer
