FEG hi-power

My FEG hi-power is missing the sear lever spring. A previous owner must have removed it. Is it necessary for the safe operation of the pistol? I cannot locate the spring anywhere. I appreciate any information.

Original Hi-Powers did not have the spring you are talking about, but it was in the type 2 with the wider end. If your sear lever is flat and not L shaped, it should be fine without it.

Scorch: Thanks for that information. The slide on my FEG has a small hole drilled where the spring might have went. I definitely have the old style sear lever.

There aren’t safety issues if you have the original Hi-Power sear lever (straight, no paddle near the hammer); but according to Don Williams, lack of the spring can create wear issues even in older Hi-Powers:
