Feg copy of High Power?

I got to shoot one of these today, wow. Trigger was good, groups where tight, and the guy who bought it only paid $250. Finish was kind of rough, and the safety was hard to use, but besides that it worked great. Impressed me and all of my shooting buddies.

The guy who owned this one has never had any problems. I'm curious, do any of you have any experience with this gun? I'm wondering about long term reliability, durability, that kind of thing.

Because for $250, that would make one heck of a beater pistol.

I have had a FEG P9RK, which I think is the gun you are referring to, hungarian made copy of a BHP for about 6 years. You are correct that the fit and finish is not perfect, but I can tell you after over 20,000 rounds mine was still going strong and actually started to get more accurate as it "broke" itself in. I paid $325.00 for mine with 4 15 round magazines and I still think it was a bargain. If I saw one for $250.00 I would be all over that sale. By the way, I hade an armorer buddy of mine in the coprs work on it and fit and finish and all functions are flawless now.

I do not have any experience with that particular wea[pn, but any FEG pistol I have seen and shot is a good qulity reliable pistol. The Hungarians have fought a great many wars in the last thousand years and they take their weapons vry seriously.

As with the PA-63 and other pistols from FEG, they are good quality, properly hardened, and reliable. They are OK out of the box, but, as SgtGunner said, can stand smoothing up by a qualified gunsmith.

I own an FEG mod PJK-9HP and love it, It shoots anything I feed it and hits where I aim. What more can I ask for from a $180.00 used gun.

I'm another satisfied FEG owner. My Hi-Power clone didn't come with a good trigger pull but I was able to fix that by installing a Cylinder & Slide trigger.

Bought a PJK-9HP for my wife to shoot in IDPA and IPSC Limited. The finish is not quite as good as the one on my Brownning HP, but not bad either. The trigger is a little gritty, but with some judicious application of Cylinder and Slide parts and a little break-in it's a great shooter. She loves it. To be honest, the darn thing bites me every time I pull the trigger (a problem I don't have with my BPH) so I don't shoot it alot, but she's never had a problem with it. The great thing about the FEG is that the cost of the gun NIB plus the reliablity work is still lower than the cost of a new BHP. I'm thinking of getting another one and making a Limited Class steel gun out of it :)
I do have three suggestions for any one new to the FEG HP.
1) Change the grips. The stock ones are BAD!
2) Don't use FEG factory magazines.
3) If the hammer bites you, Cylinder and Slide makes a smaller commander style hammer that should fix the problem. You could have a beaver tail installed, but the cost starts to go up at that point.

I had the PJK-9HP and I was extremely pleased with it. Although I had some trouble with the 147 gr. Golden sabers feeding in it, otherwise it was flawless reliability.
I ended up selling it wjen I needed the money, now i miss the hell out of it :(

Got one new in the box for $199. Had to replace the guide rod for $30 bucks. Great shooter and accurate. Nice finish ixcept around the dust shroud(some machining scars). Very nice blue and polish. Had to work on the trigger and mag well a little with my files and dremel to smooth the action. The more I shoot it, the better it gets. Would not feel comfortable with it as a carry gun because of the safety, but a great gun to take to the range.

Let me start with I like High-Powers. How much? I own 2 BHPS, a FM, a FEG, and an Arcus. I took the four nines to the range and our fellow shooter ShallCarry prefered the BHP of them. Take his word as he is a lot better shooter than me. My gunsmith has worked on the Arcus and the FEG. His opinion is the Arcus has the better metal. My opinion is I like the FEG better. Why? It looks like a Browning. What have I done to my FEG? It got a trigger job and new grips. The sights on mine are good. I think the FEG is a good solid platform right out of the box. Regards, Richard.

My only 9mm is an FEG Hi-power. Nifty for the price... Just over $200 HATED the safety.. replaced with an extended one, houge monogrip and viola.. she's a practical shooter.

PS My only .380 is an FEG
