Feel like I have found the Holy Grail...Dan Wesson

Below is my new Dan Wesson ECO. The one with the ugly grips:) But that shall be changed.

But to my point...I am amazed at the fit and finish of the DW. I want to get rid of my Kimbers and get DW. I have 3 Ultra Kimbers. One is a Covert, not fired that much, but the grip safety finish is wearing off. After handling a Kimber, which I think is a good pistol, the DW is obviously better put together. I don't even mind the paper clip take down after doing it a few times. The guide rod on the DW is industrial weapon grade with the recoil spring being flat and rated at 15,000 rds. That is awesome to me. This gun is causing me to lust after a DW Valor Commander. Why didn't I know about these guns before? I have owned an Ed Brown Kobra Carry and the DW does not take a seat behind the Kobra. I am not saying the DW is in a class of it's own..., but it doesn't take long to call the roll.

DW makes very, very nice guns. The finish is excellent and they have tight tolerances. They do require a break in. A DW gunsmith advised me to oil the rails well. He cautioned against using grease.

I have become a huge fan of Dan Wesson. Unfortunately they are a bit pricey so I don't own as many as I'd like to have. You will love the ECO. Mine is a 9mm and a great shooter.

Well if you're just throwing them I out I guess I could take 'em off your hands...you know 'recycle' them and save the environment. (I'm nothing if not green.)

I have a couple friends that own DWs, great 1911s but my main problem with them is at the prices they are charging now you are very close to buying a Baer. In my opinion, and those that own the DWs, the Baer is a much better choice, not even really close.

While I do like the tight tolerance of a Baer, I'd definitely stay clear of saying they weren't close. Due to the steel used Baer can go tighter without fear of stainless galling. But, when it comes to finish and options......yea that's where the DW takes off and catches right up.

Dan Wesson is the best kept secret in the 1911 space. My only concern is that threads like this will drive up demand and thus the price.
