Feds cut off phone service before raid?

Over on the Free Republic board there is anecdotal evidence that just before the raid, all cellular and regular phone service was cut off.

Another poster said that there was a woman resident of Andrews AFB base housing that reported that the electrical and phone service was cut off at Andrews before the plane with Elian landed there. She was using her cell phone to call out to WMAL, the local ABC station in DC.

Any telephone techies out there that can confirm/deny that this kind of area specific blanking can be done?

If so, on top of everything else, suppose someone in your family need EMS NOW and all the lines were dead. Or maybe you needed 911 assistance REAL bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if the shut off all phones before entering. The military is quite fond of jamming all radio/cell phones prior to launch. If they did it's a new tactic for Fed law enforcement as they didn't do it at Waco. Or if they did it was restore most rickey-tick, as evidence by Koresh's call to local Sheriff's office.
