I have read here and else where that federal brass gets loose primers. I have also read that federal and lake city brass is made in the same place, so why would federal brass primer pockets get loose and not lake city ? Idn't it all the same ? I also read that Federal took over the lake city plantand is making all the brass in 223 and 5.56, true or false ?

ATK (the corp Federal is under) currently does have the contract to operate the LC ammunition plant that supplies the .gov but they also have the plant (or plants) that manufactures Federal ammunition. The fact that they operate LC does not mean the brass casings or the ammo are one and the same, and I also do not believe they make any civilian .223 stamped ammunition at the government owned LC ammo plant. So no I don't think that means it's all the same brass or ammo.
I do like Federal brass, prefer it even for some of my bolt rifle loadings. I do think it's a little softer and that can translate into loose pockets, especially with a hotter load and a semiauto rifle. I avoided using FC stamps for AR loads for a long time because of that but I had so much brass that I decided to start loading it up to see for myself. Using an upper mid-range 53gr target load I'm up to four loadings with no problems so far. YMMV of course

The ones I have shot have not had primers get loose before I get cracks in the case mouth, or they get too long. I trim mine one time to a shorter than normal length, and get about 10 firings before they get too long in my AR. I then scrap them.

Neck sized ones in my bolt action have gone more than 15 firings, and are still fine. I hand prime them, and have not had any show signs of being loose.
