Federal Low Recoil (Tactical?) Buckshot

I've heard a lot about this stuff, but cant seem to find it anywhere - not even on the Federal website. Where can I find it?

Also, I have some of the low recoil "home defense" loads with #4 shot. Slightly less recoil than a regular load, but not a huge diff. How much of a difference is there between the Tactical Buckshot and regular ole buckshot?

You can find the tactical loads in the "Classic" line on the Federal website. The load # is H132 for booth the 00 (9 pellet) and #4 (27 pellet) flavors.

The load in question is LE132 00. Copper plated shot. Pattern about 12"@ 30yrds full choke. Picked up a case few years ago from Hoplite, have plenty left.

There are no problems with tac loads in pump guns, those are the ones they are designed for. Autos may have problems with them. But with a good auto, like an 1187P, you might as well use full bore loads. It has less felt recoil than a Mossberg with tac loads.

It's my buckshot of choice and has fed through everything including a couple of semi autos. The copper plated shot patterns better than most other buckshot and the recoil is noticeably less.

It's the only buckshot I'll shoot through my light side by side. I like to keep a couple rounds of buckshot on my belt while bird hunting in the event I run into a coyote or porcupine.

I like the stuff. I have it in my 870. As for the 00 Buck, the difference between it and full-powered stuff is not that great. Once you get to shooting slugs, however, it is a substantial difference, IMHO.

My understanding is that you lose about 80-100 fps with Federal's Tactical 00 Buckshot. So that means it is only going 1200 fps instead of 1300. For the distances I would be shooting (<15 yards), losing 100 fps is inconsequential.

FYI, unless you shoot alternate rounds of the tactical buckshot with normal load buckshot, you might not even realize there is much of a difference. Side by side comparison with slugs is best as well, but not necessary to feel the difference if you have ever shot full power slugs before.
