What happend to the Federal EFMJ ???
Any interesting news ?
What about the .45 ACP, and will it now be available to "normal" people, or law-enforcement only ?

Just got these in…. A few weeks ago there was a discussion on Federals Expanding Full Metal Jacket ( [Link to invalid post] ). Within that topic Tom Burczynski (bullet designer extraordinaire) answered questions. He also said that he had highspeed photos of these projectiles after penitration.

I asked Tom if he would send me these so that they could be posted. He had to downsize the photos he had so that they would fit a computer screen as is. These photos can be found at the following links.

EFMJ through Gel - Shows a .45 auto EFMJ (Expanding Full Metal Jacket) bullet exiting a 1-inch slice of 10% ordnance gelatin.

EFMJ through Wood ]- Shows a .45 round exiting a 3/4-inch piece of plywood (note how the free-standing plywood hasn't begun to move).

Bullet weight is a 185 grains. Velocity is 980 fps.

Tom is currently working on a 200-grainer.

I’ve sent this topic’s address to Tom so, if he gets any free time away from his busy schedule, he can answer any questions you may have. Enjoy the Pics

Schmit-
This round would seem to be an ideal platform for a snubby .38 round. Do you know if this is being looked at?

I know the thread you mentioned.
My question might have been unprecise.

I just wanted to know what happend in the last weeks, since there have been no news on that ammo.
And I´m very interested in knowing if it will be available to civilians in Europe.
I´m from Europe and HP´s are illegal in my country, so we have to use FMJ, SP or lead which are a very bad choice for self defense and hunters.
So the EFMJ would be the ideal round here, because it´s a FMJ.

They are still developing it - I had an email from Federal and they told me that they are not ready to really shine a light on it as of yet. Thats all I can tell you about that.
The concept is amazingly elegant in its simplicity... I like it and think it has alot of merit. Now - how it turns out in its final form has yet to be seen.
I'm thinking the bullet its self is a winner - but suspect Federals lawyers are going ape sh!!!!tt about what they can to do with it.
Just a guess.
:D

wow I want some... in 200 gr. 45, 230 gr 45, 115 gr 9mm...., 90 gr 380, 148 gr. .38

Hell all calibers those pics are cool. Expansion after only a 1 inch gel?? Outstanding.
