So far the 9mm 124 +P is clean, accurate, and reliable. Looks a lot like the Gold Dot: seldom over .60, never under .50 no matter what, goes deep enough but not too deep.

HEY!!! It's the new magic bullet. I wonder if there are any problems with weight on these things. How do you make a 124 grain bullet when a substantial portion of it is a foam-like substance? Is the bullet longer with less of a charge? I guess the same thing can be said for a hollowpoint though... Anyways, I'll wait a while to see some street results first.

I'm concerned about how well the projectile would hold together. I've seen dozens of big game bullets in my time and invariable the composite and partition bullets separate and fragment in real-world engagements. I'd like to fire it at a deer and get a rib or shoulder at a less-than-perfect angle to see if the nose would come apart. Still, given the other offerings on the market this bullet does intrigue me. I'd love to see a 25 and 32 ACP that would expand in a variety of situations. How about some Revolver choices?

Did they say 357 as in magnum or sig? In the post here [Link to invalid post] he states that they will be making 357sig.

Wildboar and Badgerarms,

FYI, I sent an e-mail to Federal a few weeks ago specifically inquiring re the availability of .40 S&W, .45 ACP and .357 magnum in EFMJ. Their reply indicated late '01 availability.

I've shot 2 boxes of the 9mm, and have found it to be extremely accurate and reliable, not to mention that for expanding ammo, it is cheep! I want some in ALL my self defense calibers.

I could be wrong but I think it is more of a people stopper, not a game stopper. The concept seems fine for personal defense.

I was thinking more of a real world situation on how it would do at deflecting angles and simulating human targets. It takes a long time to develop a database of actual human engagements to dip into. Maybe a few whitetail hunts with a Ruger or Marlin carbine would be useful.
